We have a responsibility. A responsibility to give something back.
We believe that as a company we have a responsibility to not only take, but also give something back. No matter how green we make our company and our products, we will always burden the environment. As a member of 1% For The Planet, we give a minimum of 1% of our turnover to environmental protection. It is our way of giving back to nature. It is also our way of fulfilling our duty to use our company to create positive change.
We call it our own land tax. Because it is the land that gives us the resources and the opportunity to produce. Therefore, it is only fair that we try to give something back to it. It is also only fair that we try to create products that put minimal strain, and create clothes that are built to last for a long time.

Don't underestimate the power of small actions
1% For The Planet was started back in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribon Flies. Here they decided that every year they would donate 1% of their company's gross sales to environmental projects - and give other companies the opportunity to do the same.
The idea of the project was to create a network where all companies, large and small, would have the opportunity to give something back to the nature that they take from.
As part of 1% For The Planet, you are obliged to give 1% of your gross sales to environmental protection. Precisely because it is about 1%, all companies can participate, regardless of size and turnover.
To give companies the best opportunity to give back, 1% For The Planet offers advice and helps companies find reliable non-profit organizations.
1% For The Planet certifies all donations annually to ensure that commitments are met and that each company gives what they are committed to. It costs a fee for each company to join the network. This fee is in addition to the 1% of turnover that one is obliged to donate to environmental protection.

The Danish Nature Foundation
One of the organizations we have supported a lot over time is the Danish Nature Foundation.
The Danish Nature Foundation works to improve Danish nature through projects that create more habitats for animals and plants as well as a place where everyone can experience magnificent nature under nature's conditions. The foundation works throughout the country and pursues its purpose by buying up land where nature is restored, cared for and secured for posterity.
As people and as a company, we have a responsibility and a duty, which is why we often choose to support the Danish Nature Foundation, in order to take care of nature and give something back.

When Yvon Chouinard & Craig Mathews became businessmen, they felt a responsibility to protect all the things they love. Therefore, they decided to give 1% of their revenue, regardless of whether it was profitable or not.
