A showdown with overconsumption and (Ultra) Fast Fashion
We have made an active choice to go against the flow. While large parts of the industry are spewing out new collections in a flash, today we are seeing a wave of "Ultra Fast Fashion", where new trends land daily on Chinese webshops in particular. It is a machine that is solely designed to create an artificial need for overconsumption rather than covering real needs. At ELSK, we do not believe that clothes should ever have an expiration date. We create products that are built for real life - whether it is everyday life in the office or windy days in Thy National Park.
No, our clothes are not "sustainable"
Many people look to "sustainable" clothing to gain a clear conscience, but we think the term has been misused. It is often used as a shield to hide behind to justify continued overconsumption. The truth is that no new clothing is exactlywellfor the world. We see it as a shared responsibility: We have a duty to produce better and more responsibly than the industry generally does – and you as a customer have a responsibility to learn to consume less. Buy only what you actually need and choose quality that can last for many years. In our eyes, this is the only right way forward.
A healthy business built on the right values
For us, it has been important from the start to prove that it is possible to run a financially sound business based on the right values. We are not an idealistic hobby project; we are a company that wants to show the clothing industry that you can create success without compromising on integrity. That is why we are proud to be B-Corp certified. It is the external proof that we actually do what we say – all the way around the company. As members of 1% for the Planet, we also pay a form of "land tax". We see it as the least we can do to give back to the nature from which we borrow resources.
Circular life with re.elsk
We believe so much in the longevity of our products that we offer to buy them back when you're done using them. Through our platform Re.ELSK, we buy back your used ELSK products and resell them to new owners. In this way, we extend the lifespan of the clothes and ensure that the resources used to produce them are not wasted. It's our way of ensuring that good quality never ends up as waste.
Is the clothing from ELSK sustainable?
No. We don't like that word because it's often used to embellish reality. All production puts a strain on the planet. Our clothes are abetterchoice due to materials and production conditions, but it is never a "free" choice for the environment. The biggest difference you make is by buying less and using what you have for longer.
Where is your menswear produced?
All of our own clothing is produced in Europe by permanent partners. This allows us to closely monitor production and ensure proper conditions for the people who sew your clothes.
What do I do if I no longer wear my clothes?
We want it back! Through our Re.ELSK program, you can return your used ELSK clothing to us. We will make sure it is resold so that someone else can enjoy it. It is the best way to give the clothing the long life it was created for.
